Often, being a parent you assume that you have to put your child ahead of your own well-being. That is a natural feeling, but Interactive Counselling is here to ensure that you take care of yourself.
You will be no good to your child, or anyone else, if you are running yourself thin. Just like they say on an airplane, you need to put on your own mask before your assist your child with theirs. There is a reason for this! You are no good to others if you are depleted, exhausted, and don’t take time for yourself.
Self-care is often overlooked. Because being a Mom or a Dad is busy! And who has time for that? Well we make you make yourself a priority.
There is so much to do, and by the end of the day, you are so drained after being everyone’s everything, that you can’t imagine doing something for yourself. This is a huge problem! And one that is overlooked.
New mom or dad?

We know that all the commercials and magazines make bringing home baby “easy”. But the fact is, it is the hardest thing you will ever do in your life. Yes they are cute and tiny, but there is also a weight of responsibility that is on you that you have never had before.
Our Counsellors also deal with the time postpartum, or known as the fourth trimester. Many women experience hormonal ups and downs, postpartum anxiety and postpartum depression. New Moms can be embarrassed and often feel like this is “wrong” because they are supposed to be head over heals in love with this little person. You are not wrong, you need help. Again, you need to take care of you! Level out hormones, create new routines, and let us help cater a plan to your specific situation to help you with the adjustment to motherhood.
We also deal with postpartum psychosis. This is something that people absolutely do not talk about!! But it can happen, in fact it happens 1 to 2 times per 1,000 deliveries. The onset can be sudden and strong, and mental health help is needed. You can turn to us to ensure that your mental health is well cared for during the time of having a new baby.
