Vernon Family Counselling
Vernon Family Counselling can help you and your family when you hit those bumps in the road. We help you develop a plan so in the future you can get through trying times on your own.
Family Counselling is complex
Whether it is your own family through blood or a blended family, there are many dynamics based on each individual family member.
Often a break down off communication within a family can lead to a variety of issues within the family unit. It can cause frustration, anger, and resentment amongst one another. Having consistent conflict can greatly alter the home life environment of your family.
It can cause a household to have a lot of feelings within their environment, such as:
- Anger
- Animosity
- Tension
- Resentment
- Depression
- Isolated
The following cases can also result in a family breakdown:
- Lack of parental boundaries
- Inappropriate boundaries based on age
- Co-parenting disagreements
These can explain disrespect, entitlement, and laziness within family members.
At times, parents need help to establish boundaries that would get the results that they are wanting from within their family.
It does not mean that you aren’t a good parent, you are! We believe that if you care enough to seek out help for your child, yourself and/or your family, then you are a great parent. Just because your family is in turmoil or experiencing issues does not mean that you’re doing a bad job, it just means you need to do it differently! That is where we come in to help!
It is easier for a third party to see areas need improvement. An outside view to see the bigger picture can help bridge communicational gaps between family members. Providing awareness, creating boundaries and sticking with consequences will certainly make a positive impact on your family as a whole.
Family with separated parents
A family with parents who have separated can often find family counselling beneficial. Although the parents are no longer together, it is important to be a unified unit on the parenting front. This can be extremely difficult, especially when the separation is new or there is anger or hurt feelings caused by it. But don’t worry! We can do Co-Parent Counselling with the parents not even being in the same room! At Interactive Counselling we use unique methods to help parents co-parent effectively without them needing to do much communicating between one another.
It is extremely important to implement the same rules and boundaries in both households to offer the same structure for the children within the family, which offers them stability no matter where they are. This will reduce behaviours and confusion regarding boundaries and rules within your children leading them to be more comfortable in each place of residence.
How we can help?
Although Interactive Counselling does not offer a mediating role with regards to custody, we do offer a neutral and safe environment to establish a family routine and boundaries. As a result, kids know exactly what to expect and so do the parents!
This is crucial in ensuring that the children feel safe and will help their behaviours through such a difficult transition.
Interactive Counselling can help your family determine a “new” normal that you will leave you with a happy, communicative and supportive family.
We offer a family comfort, support and a third party view based on keeping the children’s needs at the forefront of our goals, which helps reduce the power struggle between parents.
Interactive Counselling helps you communicate as a family so each person understands what the other is saying. Above all, it will reduce the level of frustration and animosity within your family.
