Melissa has spent the past 8 years working with trauma and addictions.
She is passionate about working with people to achieve peace and happiness in their lives. Providing different approaches to individuals through a client centered approach, based on assessment of needs.
Melissa works with youth, young adults, adults, individuals and couples. She believes that everyone has the ability to heal and grow, all it takes is determination.
Melissa works with a variety of issues including but not limited to:
• depression
• anxiety
• complex trauma and abuse
• grief and loss
• comorbid mental health diagnoses
• unhealthy habits and coping
• relationship difficulties
• codependency
• parenting
• foster and adoptive parenting
• crisis management
• burnout and compassion fatigue
Melissa uses a variety of approaches; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion Focused Individual Therapy.
Using an attachment lens she believes that connection is an innate human
need, because of this she provides a nonjudgmental, supportive space that
offers a great sense of safety. She believes in creating a secure therapeutic
relationship with her clients in which they can journey together to reach goals.
Melissa grew up on a farm in central BC and moved to the Okanagan 13 years ago. In her free time she enjoys fitness, meditation, outdoor sports such as; paddle boarding, hiking, beach days, snowboarding and spending time with her children.
