Originally from Nova Scotia Sabrina has lived and worked in Manitoba, Alberta, and now Kelowna. She is a registered social worker with the BC College of Social Workers with 20 years of social work experience in areas of:
– youth mental health and substance use
– child exploitation
– family conflict
– foster and adoptive parenting
– trauma and PTSD
– adult substance use
– eating disorders
Sabrina understands that interconnection between mind, body, and spirit. She uses a combination of approaches depending on each individual and what their goals are. This could include any one or more of the following approaches: person-centred, emotion-focused, cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused, and somatic techniques. Sabrina is also a certified Reiki practitioner. She believes in the natural healing power and strength within every person.
Sabrina’s two greatest passions are being a mother and counselling. She understands the challenges that come with parenting children at all different ages and admits that although being a parent has beautiful moments it is also messy and filled with tears at times (yes mom’s tears too). She considers it a special privilege to be with people through the difficulties that bring them into counselling. Sabrina’s natural ability to connect with people creates a supportive environment where healing can take place.
In her spare time Sabrina enjoys baking, hiking, lifting weights, kickboxing, watching a good show or movie, and meditation. Being near water and mountains is where she feels most at peace. She considers herself quite funny and wonders if comedian should be her side hustle.
